Is not a teacher by profession definitely
this means someone was not train to be a teacher or who has not study in a
field of Education, just she/he is teaching like doing his/her regularly
duties. Teaching in emergencies situation it needs well-trained teachers who
can teach well according to the situation of school and students.
Teachers who are not by profession have positive
and negative effect toward students learning because such students needs a good
foundation of education and they are there in school to acquire knowledge, so
for them to get these knowledge they need teachers who are well train, so that to
provide or pass information to them through different ways of teaching or using
teaching methods, so in the situation without trained teachers this will affect
the nature of students learning and they will not get a right education because
they were been taught just for seek of learning. And also this might help in
situation where the school or ministry of education is not having enough
teachers or lacking teachers, so in this situation they employ anybody in
position of a teacher from any other fields just to cover the place.

ReplyDeleteNot a teacher by profession is one of the big problem in prolong conflict contries like South Sudan and many others. Most of them don't have the knowledge and skills of teaching in post- conflicts areas and to me some even give wrong information to students especially in science subjects. Do agree with me?
ReplyDeleteIts actually true that people who are not teachers are the one teaching in most schools as a result of the conflict in the country and this affects the quality of education. I think when we return home, we have to come up with an action plan policy that will help reduce such a problem. Do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great conversation and a very important one! In Indiana, they recently passed a law that people can become teachers with no official training if they pass an exam. This has upset many of my teacher friends! It also reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:
ReplyDelete"Those who know do. Those who truly understand teach."
I can't remember who said this, but it was in the context of pedagogical content knowledge or the belief that you need to know both the subject and how to teach it! This is so important and I think the focus on teacher training is a significant part of this program and I'm excited to see where you take your training as teacher educators!
I agree with you Nalimlim about not teacher profession in our country. The problem, most of teachers they focusing in the salary .They run away from school to fine another jobs can help. Such as the teachers who are teaching now, like west of time ,or they don't have thing to do.In this situation, children are victims. Because they have to receive a good knowledge on the good way. I think when we retune home we have to work hard,to change this system.
